Tulsi has been used in India for around 5000 years and is acclaimed for its healing properties of the mind, body and spirit
It is highly aromatic and is used for purifying space . Tulasi is a sacred plant in Hindu .Hindus regard it is an earthly manifestation of the goddess Tulasi . The offering of its leaves is mandatory in ritualistic worship.Almost every Hindu household has one or several ‘Tulsi’ plants as Hindus worship the Tulasi plant as the Goddess Lakshmi, who is the consort of Lord Vishnu the Creator. The Tulasi plant also has many healing properties aside from its religious symbolism, making it ideal for worship since it has the ability to heal. The extracts from Tulasi leaves are used in traditional Ayurvedic medicines."Hindus worship Tulasi in morning and evening.
Tulsi is one of the eight indispensable things in Vedic Worship.
When leaves are plucked , the following Sanskrit mantra is chanted
cayanodbhava-dhukham ca
yad hradi tava vartate
tat ksamasva jagan-matah
vrnda devi namo stu te
"O Tulasi devi , i offer my respectful unto you. Kindly forgive me if i have caused you pain by picking your leaves and manjaris , O mother of the universe "
There are two types of Tulasi . One is called Krishna Tulasi because it is said to be the same color as Sri Krishna-purple.
